Privacy Policy

Family Road Trip does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything the app creates stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party tracking.

What the app is

Family Road Trip is an iOS app that acts as a spoken game-show host for the car. It runs family games out loud through your phone or car speakers. It is designed to work fully offline.

Information we collect

None that leaves your device. The app has no servers of its own, no user accounts, and no login. We do not collect personal information, contact details, location, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics.

Information stored on your device

To make the games work, the app saves the following locally on your phone only. It is never uploaded anywhere:

Player names or nicknames you type in, and each player's game settings.
Game history and scores (for example, points, streaks, and a math-practice progress record used to pick suitable questions).

This information stays in the app's private storage on your device. Deleting the app removes it. You can also clear it from within the app using Reset to Defaults.

Microphone and speech recognition

So kids can answer out loud, the app can listen for spoken answers — either when you tap a talk button, or continuously if you turn on hands-free mode. This is optional: every game is fully playable by tapping, with no microphone access at all.

Speech is converted to text on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. It is not sent to us or to any third party.
The app does not record, save, or transmit audio. Only the recognized answer for the current question is used, and only in the moment.

iOS will ask your permission before the microphone or speech recognition is ever used, and you can turn access off at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Children's privacy

Family Road Trip is made for families to play together, and children are expected to use it alongside a parent or guardian. Because the app collects no personal information and transmits nothing off the device, no personal data about children (or anyone) is ever gathered, stored online, or shared. Any names entered are chosen by you and remain on your own device.

Third parties

The app includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. No data is shared with anyone because none is collected.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
